Karl Thomas is entering his first year coaching on the high school level.  Prior to coaching at Freedom, he coached at Beville Middle School.  While at Beville Middle, he was the co-coach of both the girls and boys squad.  In his second year the Bobcats captured both the Girls and Boys Regional championship, and broke several school and regional records.  It was the second championship for the boys (the last one coming in 2003) and the sixth for the girls (the last one coming in 1999) .

 

Thomas ran varsity for 4 years for Eleanor Roosevelt.  While at Roosevelt he captured 6 individual state titles and 3 team championships and was an All Met.  He still holds county records in the 4 x 800 and 4 x 400, and school records in the 4 x 400 and 4x 800.  He received a full scholarship to South Carolina State University where he continued to compete in the 400, 800, and Cross County. 

 

Thomas graduated 1995 from South Carolina State University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. He and his wife, Meshailay, live in Dumfries with their three daughters, Jorden 8, Kai 2, and new born baby girl Laila.
